Anaerobic fermentation of the soluble non-starch polysaccharides in psyllium results in the production of important short chain fatty acids in the intestines. Butyric acid exhibits antineoplastic activity against colorectal cancer, is the preferred oxidative substrate for colonocytes, and may be helpful in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. In a study of resected colorectal cancer patients, those given 20 grams of psyllium seed daily for three months exhibited an average increase of butyric acid production of 42 percent, which decreased to pretreatment levels within two months of
cessation of supplementation.
Soluble fibers also have hypocholesterolemic effects. Clinical indications for Medibulk include constipation, diarrhea, need for colon detoxification, hyperlipidemia, fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids, appetite control, ulcerative colitis, and colon cancer prevention.
Prior to embarking on a detoxification program, it is important to achieve optimal bowel function. Medibulk speeds transit time and binds toxins that have been released into the intestines from the liver, preventing their reabsorption.
Begin with ½ scoop in 8 oz. pure water or dilute fruit juice per night and slowly build up to 2-3 scoops. Follow with at least 8 oz. pure water.

good valueEffective and great quality. May want to start with just half the dose at first, and is easier if taken at night as I found it causes some bloating which didn't cause a problem when taken before bed.Was this review helpful to you?
