GABAMax is a formula designed to address neurotransmitter over-stimulation and is used in individuals with high excitatory neurotransmitter activity or increased GABA excretion. GABAMax does not contain GABA, rather it is a combination of ingredients designed to support GABA synthesis and function. The amino acid theanine is included and has been widely studied for its ability to produce a calming effect and prevent over-stimulation. 5-HTP is included to support the production of serotonin. Taurine acts by enhancing the effects of GABA. Glutamine contributes to GABA synthesis. N-acetyl-tyrosine is included to provide low-level support for the catecholamines.
