Those who have any kind of cancer should be careful about taking melatonin and probably should not take it unless instructed by a doctor. The reason for this is because melatonin is used as an immunity system booster, and will work very effective in a healthy person. However, in an unhealthy immunity system, it can actually further compromise the body's health because of the negative reaction it can have with cancerous cells. Those with low blood pressure should also avoid melatonin. As it was mentioned earlier, melatonin in many ways is a (natural) depressant to slow down the body. If you already have low blood pressure, this can further complicate your condition and will cause you to have worse symptoms, which could have long-term negative health consequences if you're not careful. In conclusion, melatonin is completely safe for everyone to take except for those in a select few circumstances. So long as you do not have cancer, low blood pressure, and stick to the recommended daily dose, melatonin is safe and can be very beneficial in building your health.
