SKU HE2-POLIL
Description

Policosanol is a plant product derived from rice bran or sugar cane and has demonstrated in multiple clinical studies to safely reduce LDL ( bad ) cholesterol while significantly raising HDL ( good ) cholesterol. In addition it can be used to improve pain free walking distance for people with intermittent claudication (hardening of the arteries). It also may improve the health of patients with coronary heart disease. Policosanol is comprised of long chain fatty acids octacosanol, hexacosanol, tricontanol, tetracosanol, and dotricontanol

At the University of Bonn, Germany, a review of the scientific studies was reviewed. At doses of 10 to 20 mg/day, policonsanol lowered total cholesterol by 17 to 21 percent, LDL cholesterol was reduced 21 to 19 percent, and HDL cholesterol was raised 8 to 15 percent. In a six-month study, 10 mg of policosanol per day reduced total cholesterol by 16 percent, LDL cholesterol by 24 percent, and increased HDL cholesterol by 29 percent. Policosanol has also been compared with drugs. For example, in a trial involving 113 patients, 59 patients received 10 mg per day of policosanol with a low cholesterol diet, while 54 patients were given besafibrate 400 mg per day while on a low cholesterol diet for eight weeks. In policosanol treated subjects, LDL cholesterol fell by 18 percent, triglycerides by 15 percent, while in the drug group LDL fell 11 percent and triglycerides by 6 percent.

To test the effects with coronary heart disease (CHD) and high cholesterol, a 23 patient double blind study was conducted. Electrocardiogram (ECG) and serum blood samples were followed for 14 months. The policosanol group showed a reduction of total and LDL cholesterol, and 5 out of 12 patients exhibited a tendency to improve their CHD.

Sytrinol is a patented formula derived from citrus and palm fruit extracts, designed to promote healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In addition this ingredient has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Sytrinol reduces total cholesterol by up to 30 percent, reduces LDL cholesterol levels up to 27 percent, and triglyceride levels by 34 percent, within four to twelve weeks; it also has a positive impact on apoprotein B and apoprotein A1 levels.

Results from the first trial of sixty subjects show that treatment with 300 mg of Sytrinol per day, provided in two tablets of Polilipid, reduced total cholesterol by 25 percent, LDL cholesterol by 19 percent, and triglycerides by 24 percent. In the second trial, with ten subjects total cholesterol and LDL was reduced 20 percent and 22 percent respectively, apolipoprotein B (a structural component of LDL) decreased by 21 percent, and triglycerides decreased by 28 percent. The first twelve weeks of a long term study have been completed. Compared to a placebo, Sytrinol subjects saw decreases of total cholesterol by 30 percent, LDL by 27 percent, and triglycerides by 34 percent. In addition HDL levels increased by 4 percent.
