• R-Alpha Lipoic Acid (R-ALA) - is an active isomer of lipoic acid. R-ALA is believed to be twice as active as traditional Alpha Lipoic Acid, which is a mixture of the R and S forms. R-ALA is found in the mitochondria of cells and improves the function of those mitochondria, increases metabolic rate and decreases oxidative damage. R-ALA enhances glutathione activity and is linked to detoxification of xenobiotics (chemicals which are found in organisms but which are not normally produced or expected to be present in it). R-ALA supports healthy blood pressure, glucose and insulin levels and supports healthy arteries and heart. It also increases the levels of nitric oxide as well.
