The purpose behind the specific ingredients in the salad is to make the Omega 3 fatty acids available to your body through the process of eating.  By eating this way it will help you to fill up with great food, that is beneficial to your body, and food that won’t add to the “tearing down” or inflammation of the soft tissues in your body.  This salad is not only great tasting, but it is good for digestion as it provides fiber, and for weight loss.

The amount of each ingredient you put in is up to you.  Once you learn other foods that contain the Omega 3s you can change the flavor of your salad as you like.  It is recommended that you stay strictly to the mix below for the first 4 weeks, this way you can be assured that you are getting the right ingredients, and can see the affects of the salad.

The other side of the Omega story is to reduce the amount of Omega 6s that you are consuming.  Omega 6 is known to be inflammatory to the body’s cells.  You will find Omega 6s in ALL grains.  Examples of what you should avoid-Cereal, pasta, pretzels, cookies, cake, muffins, bagels, etc……I think you get the idea.  If you have questions or need to discuss this further, go to Ask the Doc.

Ingredients

1.)  Chopped raw onions, red bell peppers, avocado-place in a salad bowl.

2.)  Add extra virgin olive oil, cold water processed (organic preferred), balsamic vinegar, and mustard (Dijon).  Spices; Ginger (paste), Turmeric (powder), Garlic (fine chop), Sea salt.  Mix these as your dressing.

3.)  Add mixed greens (Organic if possible, you can buy pre-packaged)-Mix  #1, #2, and #3

4.)  Sautee chicken, fish, meat and mix into salad.  (Again, buy organic if possible?)

5.)     Hint:  Key to keep calories low-don't cook the protein (meats) with oil; sauté in water or the natural oil of the protein (by not using oil for cooking you also avoid the dangers (denature) of heating the oil)

The salad is usually eaten for the noon meal, although you can eat it for your evening meal or both noon and evening if I have suggested that you need to be strict about the Omega intake.
