Policosanol is a mixture of nine high primary aliphatic alcohols. This derivative of sugar cane wax has been found to have the same mechanism of action as many cholesterol medications without harming levels of CoQ10. Octacosanol, the main component in policosanol, works to help maintain healthy arteries. This in turn lowers LDL in the bloodstream, helping to support healthy cholesterol levels.
