A
new study has been released, which indicates that omega-3
fatty acids from
fish
oil can prevent sudden cardiac death by blocking
fatal heart rhythms.
It
is theorized that omega-3 fatty acids incorporate into heart
cells where
they
prevent deadly heart rhythms that may be induced by toxins.
The
authors state that though fatty fish consumption is the best
means of
obtaining
omega-3s, "fish oil supplementation in people with a
history of
heart
attack are low-cost, safe ways to reduce the risk of sudden
cardiac
death."
This
study was published May 27, in Circulation: Journal of the
American Heart
Association.
