  What's a Woman to Do?

Researchers halt study, a big dilemma for women.

You may have read about it already or seen it on the news.  Hormone Replacement Therapy (also known as HRT) drugs are so dangerous that a major investigational study of their supposed effectiveness was recently halted in midstream.

This has never ever happened before in medical/pharmaceutical history.  Because the study uncovered the startling fact that instead of helping a woman handle menopausal conditions, these drugs were instead leading to cancer, heart disease, strokes and dangerous blood clots.

"In a dramatic move certain to enflame the long-running debate over hormone-replacement therapy, researchers halted a government study of a hormone pill taken by millions of older women.  Long-term use of the pill increases the risk of coronary heart disease, invasive breast cancer, stokes and blood clots in the lungs, the researchers said."

---Wall Street Journal, July 10th, 2002

The study was to be an 8-year study that was halted after 5 years due to the risks outweighing the benefits.  The study contained around 16,000 women.  There has been over 70,000,000 million prescriptions written for this drug in one year.  Health insurers spent some $1.8 billion on the drugs in 2001.

Results of the study for women taking Hormone Replacement Therapy developed the following:

  • Breast Cancer  - 26%
  • Heart Disease - 26%
  • Stroke - 41%

Women taking hormone therapy deserve better guidance!  For the 16,000 women enrolled in a study of hormone replacement therapy, the advice was clear.  After new research showed that the popular drug therapy does more harm than good, federal investigators sent study participants letters that told them to stop taking their pills.  Too bad the 6 million other U.S. women taking similar combinations of progestin and estrogen can't get such clear guidance.  For them, the answer to the urgent question, "should I quit, too" is non-existent, garbled or suspect.

It has been known for years that there are natural products available to help with the annoying symptoms of peri-menopause and post-menopause.  I highly recommend a good foundational nutrition package to guard against heart disease, osteoporosis and stroke, along with providing symptomatic relief.

What Should You Do?

I recommend our Wellness Essentials for Women for foundational women's health along with EstroFactors for symptom relief.  Some of our patients continue to take Black Cohosh Plus along with EstroFactors for extra symptom relief.  Click on the name of each product above for more information.

The National Institute of Health is now supporting a trial on black cohosh and red clover (ingredient of EstroFactors).

EstroFactors Helps Achieve Healthy Hormone Balance

EstroFactors is Targeted Nutritional Support for Healthy Estrogen Metabolism

How you will benefit from EstroFactors:

  • Supports women with estrogen-related health issues by addressing multiple factors of estrogen activity and metabolism.
  • Promotes healthy estrogen detoxification and elimination from the body, thus supporting overall hormone balance.
  • Beneficially influences estrogen receptor function for more balanced estrogen activity.
  • Promotes preferred pathways of estrogen metabolism, such as the conversion of estradiol to 2-hydroxyestrone, a weaker estrogen that may protect estrogen sensitive tissues.
  • May help to relieve common symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as cramping, irritability, and breast tenderness.

Plus it has a large amount of antioxidant support (resveratrol, chryson, rosemary)

And all three forms of Folic Acid.
